Increase our Faith!
The firm faith that we need
and that we should spread to those around us:
how can we grow in it, so as to be true witnesses?
I’m going to let the apostles give you some advice.
They were men like us, and also
(forgive me for saying what Jesus himself
tells them and they tell us in the Gospels)
they weren’t very bright.
But they were quite clever and they went right to the source:
Adauge nobis fidem! Increase our faith!, they said to Jesus.
You know that faith, hope and charity are theological virtues,
virtues that we cannot acquire through our own efforts,
but that are given to us gratuitously by God,
by praying in whatever situation you are in, including right now.
I am speaking in God’s presence and trying to pray. God is here!
Regnum Dei intra vos est. “The kingdom of God is within you.”
The Holy Spirit dwells in our soul in grace
so that we don’t live an animal life, but the life of God’s children.
Therefore you should pray right now, and cry out to him,
without letting anyone hear you: Lord, increase our faith! And he will increase your faith.
